pre-collection project, 2020
This project is inspired by the Vienna Actionism, which was a short and intense movement in the art of the 20th century. As one of the first ever public performances, Gunter Brus walked the streets of Vienna as a “living painting”, coated with white paint and a black stripe down the centre of his front and back. Regardless of the rumors of wether the act was staged, Brus was a part of the Viennese Actionists, one of the first artistic groups to use their bodies as their medium in aims of merging life and art.
In the spirit of challenging the endurance of the public, and the ethical laws of society, I created visuals through photographs taken from some landmark protests when people ask for changes and awareness. Clothes been torn and pulled from the moments of protesters getting arrested. The process started with the creased textures and structures along with protesting slogans turn into embroidery details. By capturing these moments the collection is aimed to reminding people fighting for their rights. A fashion collection turns into a message to those who lives in a filtered world.
