The project started during the pandemic when I spent most of the time in my bedroom staring at the surroundings and imagining if it would be refurnished which inspired a womenswear collection from an imaginary interior project.
The references wanders from the Bauhaus era, specifically the iconic costumes of triadisches ballet and Japanese experimental art studio jikken katsuhiro yamaguchi of their graphic set designs to the Italian product designer ETTORE Sottsass of his signature silhouettes and bald colour/material choices. The installation works of jesus soto also comes in the picture when the three aesthetics are combined by flat shapes.
The purpose of this project is to explore the boundaries of how could a fashion designer play with various methods to create 3D silhouettes and more excitingly, an idea of ‘silhouette within silhouette’.
